On Tuesday, subscribers were informed of a vehicle ramming attack that had just occurred in the German city of Munich, not far from one of the venues for this weeks Munich Security Conference being attended by Vice President Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
In this incident, the driver of a white Mini Cooper followed a police vehicle monitoring the back end of a trade union march involving approximately fifteen hundred participants near Munich's central train station. The driver of the Mini Cooper maneuvered around the police vehicle and accelerated into the crowd of marchers, injuring at least 36 people, including children. Police are reported to have fired one shot from a pistol while apprehending the driver.
The suspect has been identified as a 24-year-old Afghan national named Farhad Noori. Noori moved to Germany at the end of 2016 after spending time in Italy.
Video appearing on social media show the driver shouting "Allah" and "Allahu Akbar" while being pinned to the ground and handcuffed by police.
Prosecutors say Noori’s social media posts show “indications of an extremist background,” including an alarming one that reads: “Eradicate all those who are bad to Islam.”
This is the third vehicle ramming attack in three months. Read about the past attacks here and here.
